We left Singapore on an overnight train for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Our 2nd class ticket, thank you "fiscally responsible Pat", got us a fancy bed and curtain across the aisle from one another. A days worth of sight seeing and an Ambien actually made this a nice trip. One problem, they didn't tell us that we had to go through customs at the border (an hour and a half into our train ride)...did I mention we had taken an Ambien already???? We must have "slurred" the right things as they let us reboard the train and sleep the remaining 6 hours to KL.
Petronas Towers...was the world's tallest building until Taiwan topped it. Still the tallest twin towers.
Our guesthouse manager gave us a good tip to get to the towers early to get tickets for the skybridge walk. Come to find out the tickets were free and everyone but us knew this! After waiting in line for about an hour we managed a 2:00 tour. It was sold out by 9:30am.
With time to burn we took a taxi about 30 minutes out of town to the Batu Caves. This is a famous Hindu shrine that is visited by millions of Hindu's every year. There are exactly 272 steps from the bottom of the statue to the entrance of the caves...we "stepped it up" and made the pilgrimage up the steps...piece of cake for 4th floor walk up New Yorkers! Monkeys greeted us at the top and caused a few screams from the unsuspecting.
Was that a gun shot???? After walking back down the stairs, we realized it was in fact gun shots. Turns out they were filming a "Bollywood" movie (India's Hollywood). Needless to say these guys won't be in Us Weekly anytime soon.
Upon returning to Kuala Lumpur we were starving so we went to Little India for some Naan and so called fried rice...tough eating without a silverware.
Patrick's dream subway car...entire thing was decked out in KFC advertising!
Claudia picking on me during our skybridge walk in the Petronas Towers.
